In der Landwirtschaft im Nordwesten Frankreichs waren Percheron-Pferde von jeher unverzichtbar. Diese großen, kräftigen Tiere pflügten die Felder, zogen Baumstämme und Postkutschen übers Land. Als nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg immer mehr Maschinen Einzug hielten, entsorgte man die verbliebenen Rösser in Schlachthöfen. Heute erobern sie Frankreich und die Herzen der Menschen zurück.
Hector ist ein dreijähriger Percheron-Hengst, der auf dem Gestüt "Centre de Valorisation du Haras national du Pin" zu einem universell einsetzbaren Arbeitspferd ausgebildet werden soll. Das Gestüt, einst von Ludwig XIV. errichtet, um seiner Armee den Nachschub an Reittieren zu sichern, hat eine immense Erfahrung mit Pferden. Mit Percherons allerdings beschäftigen sich die Trainer und Ausbilder noch nicht so lange - galten diese Pferde doch über viele Jahrhunderte hinweg als schwerfällige Arbeitstiere der Landbevölkerung.
Erst in den letzten Jahren erlebte die Rasse eine Renaissance. Ein verändertes Umweltbewusstsein lässt viele Menschen auf dem Land wieder auf diese ausdauernden und gutmütigen Kraftpakete zurückgreifen. So helfen Percherons bei der Feldbestellung, der Ernte, der Waldrodung und auch im Weinanbau. Züchter und Ausbilder haben zudem weitere Einsatzmöglichkeiten der Tiere entdeckt: Die Pferde sind heute im Polizeidienst oder ziehen romantische Hochzeitskutschen.
Wie und wo Hector eines Tages eingesetzt wird, ist noch nicht klar, in wenigen Monaten soll er verkauft werden - deshalb bereitet sein Gestüt ihn auf alle Aufgaben vor, die von einem modernen Percheron erwartet werden.

Pendant des siècles, les percherons ont été perçus comme des animaux uniquement bons aux travaux agricoles. La mécanisation de l’agriculture a signé leur déclin, puis celui de la boucherie chevaline, leur extinction. Le retour du cheval de trait, plus écologique, plus économique, permet d'inscrire l’avenir dans une démarche de développement durable.

Der ganze Stolz von Córdoba sind die Patios der Stadt – begrünte Innenhöfe, deren Wurzeln bis in die römische Antike und die Zeit der maurischen Herrschaft in Andalusien zurückreichen. Einmal im Jahr richtet die andalusische Hauptstadt einen traditionellen Wettbewerb aus. Dann dreht sich alles um eine Frage: Wer hat den schönsten Patio der ganzen Stadt?
Sie stehen für Ruhe, Entspannung und Erfrischung in den heißen Sommermonaten: Die andalusischen Patios sind die architektonische Antwort auf die brütende Hitze, wenn in Südspanien das Thermometer bis auf 50 Grad Celsius klettert. Ihren Ursprung haben die Innenhöfe in der römischen Antike. Die muslimischen Herrscher ergänzten sie zu den Zeiten von Al-Andalus – dem maurischen Reich auf der Iberischen Halbinsel – um Pflanzen, Brunnen und die typischen Farben. So entstand in Andalusien über die Jahrhunderte eine ganz eigene, von zahlreichen kulturellen Einflüssen geprägte Patio-Kultur.
In Córdoba sind die grünen Oasen der ganze Stolz der Stadt. Über 3.000 traditionelle Patios gibt es bis heute in der historischen Innenstadt – die Kultur rund um die begrünten Innenhöfe der andalusischen Hauptstadt wurde 2012 von der UNESCO zum immateriellen Weltkulturerbe erklärt. Während die Innenhöfe im Alltag Ruhe und Erholung spenden sollen, macht sich im Frühjahr hektisches Treiben breit. Denn dann steht der große Wettbewerb der Patios vor der Tür – ein Fest, das vor über 100 Jahren ins Leben gerufen wurde und bis heute die größte Feierlichkeit der Stadt ist. Die Patio-Besitzer nutzen nun jede freie Minute, um ihren Innenhof auf Vordermann zu bringen. Sie pflanzen, zupfen und gießen um die Wette. Denn wenn im Mai die Jury loszieht, muss alles perfekt sein – nur so haben sie eine Chance auf den ersten Preis für den schönsten Patio der ganzen Stadt.

"UN ÉTÉ À ORLY" / C’est le deuxième plus grand aéroport de France et c’est aussi l’un des plus anciens. Orly est une petite ville dans la ville qui accueille chaque été jusqu’à 115 000 personnes par jour. Les week-ends de grands chassés-croisés, l’aéroport est en effervescence. Dans l’aérogare ou sur le tarmac, le personnel d’Orly se bat dans l’ombre pour accueillir et satisfaire au mieux les voyageurs. Durant tout l’été, nous nous sommes plongés dans cette fourmilière et partagé le quotidien des passagers et des employés de l’aéroport d’Orly.
Cristina n’a qu’une obsession : le chronomètre. Cette chef d’escale a le goût du travail bien fait, sa hantise serait de voir ses avions partir en retard « L’été il y a toujours des impondérables à gérer, des passagers qui sont contents et d’autres qui ne le sont pas, on passe d’un problème à l’autre. Il faut savoir optimiser tous les moments et garder son sang froid. » Du bagage abandonné aux passagers compliqués, nous la suivons au fil de l’été dans sa course quotidienne.
Nacer veille à la sécurité des pistes depuis 41 ans. Les avions, c’est presque toute sa vie « Travailler à Orly ce qui me fascine ce sont toutes ces compagnies, tout ce monde, c’est gigantesque » mais son histoire d’amour avec Orly, il va devoir la laisser derrière lui à la fin de l’été, au moment de prendre sa retraite. Nous embarquons avec lui à bord de son 4x4 et découvrons ses missions qui lui réservent souvent de grosses frayeurs.
Dans son cabinet médical aux pieds des pistes, Chadi le médecin chef d’Orly prend soin tout l’été des passagers comme du personne de l’aéroport. « Ici on a la panoplie de toutes les pathologies, de la plus classique à la plus exotique, il faut être polyvalent et réactif. » Il s’est donné pour but de permettre aux voyageurs de partir en vacances en bonne santé. Il nous emmène d’urgence en urgence.
Jean-Christophe, lui, joue au gendarme et au voleur. Adjudant chef, il s’assure depuis 15 ans que son aéroport est en sécurité. Entre la recherche d’explosifs « C’est pour lutter contre le terrorisme et s’assurer que rien ne rentre sur la plateforme aéroportuaire », et la traque des bagagistes accusés de vol dans les valises, nous le suivons mener l’enquête.
